Surf-Blot eliminates the time consuming step of cutting blots into strips. Built-in liquid channels clamp directly onto the blot surface for screening of the intact blot. Surf-Blot also reduces the amount of antibody normally required for screening. Wide (2.5mm) channels allow convenient and bubble-free loading with either an 8 or 12 place pipettor. Surf Blot's major difference from Brand BR and Brand I devices is the Surf-Blot's convex curved metal backing plate. The other brands clamp two pieces of plastic together. The plastic bends and cannot give a good seal. The Surf-Blot has a reusable gasket, unlike Brand I which requires a new gasket for every use.
For best results select a Surf-Blot with channels approximately the same length as the gel. Blot gel onto a membrane that is 1 cm longer. Surf-Blot 5.5 is recommended for use with BioRad Mini Protean.

Research Products International Corp Mini-Genie Blotter with Platinized Titanium Electrode
Research laboratories worldwide use Genie Blotters for rapid and accurate electrophoretic transfers. The unique design closely positions the plate electrodes to produce high field strengths (in volts/cm) with low voltage power sources. Superb Western Blots can be obtained in as little as 30 minutes at 24 volts. Northern and Southern blots in as little as 60-90 minutes.
Genie also features an easy to load cassette tray for submerged bubble-free assembly. Slide the loaded tray into the tray holder and stand unit upright. The vertical operation eliminates bubble accumulation, gel slumping and burned blots.
